Ryerson pretty much stuck a fork in the once proud hometown newspaper this time.

Do you seriously think they have even the pretense of objectivity and any even basic journalistic integrity left?

As our colleagues Hailstone and Gillespie point out in their earlier posts on this topic, (See Gillespie here and Hailstone here) the local cage-liner has actually endorsed a candidate who is

(A) pending a court appearance for an eviction hearing (the day after the election ... convenient, huh?). It appears that she hasn't paid her rent in a year or so. Good fiscal management skills - she'll fit right in with the bailout crowd;

(B) has foisted off a resume that is (to be kind) "embellished" - well, actually, largely fabricated. Good thing Pelosi doesn't do background investigations on her caucus, huh? And;

(C) apparently, the Cage-liner ed board didn't realize that their endorsed candidate doesn't know or understand campaign finance/election law. No worries here either - well, except for those pesky ethics investigations.

So this is the candidate that the Ryerson crowd thinks will best represent the good people of the 5th CD? As Hailstone points out, they used the massive Wall Street bailout bill as the benchmark ... and only endorsed the guys who voted against it when they knew there wasn't a snowballs chance in West Texas they'd be defeated. One wonders about their judgement. Rather than look at the totality of votes over the past two years, they choose one or two that fits their agenda. That's what I call objective, and you?

No wonder Burton doesn't give these idiots the time of day. No wonder they can't sell newspapers for anything other than an inexpensive alternative to store bought puppy "piddle-pads".

Hailstone was right. They're full of something ... but the aroma is less than intoxicating along Penn St.

WTF else do you do in Alaska besides hunt, fish, and drink? Don't recall anybody on the left dinkin' any number of Dem pols who got pinched for being hammered. But that's just twice as bad as having, what?, $90K in payola wrapped up in your frickin' freezer.

Sarah Palin's daughter is "in a family way" ... and ***Gasp*** unwed. Um, did anybody on the left get this excited when Dick "Satan Himself" Cheney's unwed lesbo daughter and her love buddy had a baby? Nope, don't think so. They're "progressive" and in touch with the expanding definition of "family" that all truly enlightened people embrace.

McCain, of course, is an incompetent boob for not properly vetting this woman. Clearly, he should have known that the whole fishing license thing was going to be his "Eagleton Moment". And, we all know what the whole DUI thing did for W. (Besides locking down the Frat vote, that is.) The whole John Edwards "love child" thing really did him in, huh? Speaking fee now up over $65K for his next little gig. But again, it's the left. They get a pass because they're enlightened.

Dudes and Dudettes, this is so friggin' not a big deal. But the lefties will have us believe that this ***woman*** is so not qualified to be the Veep - when even the most chauvinistic dolt here in the WPBCHQ can't think of a single reason not to just love this gal. We pointed out in an earlier post that she's hot, she's smart, and she hunts Moose.

According to the Lefties: She's a freak of nature!!! No, really? I'd say she's the perfect woman. Smokin' hot, young, articulate and defines gun control as the "eight steady hold factors" ... and did I mention, she hunts Moose.

The lefties are so afraid that this gal might actually be the first woman elected to the Veep spot, and not Hillary, that they just can't stand it. It's only cool when the "Black" guy or the woman is a progressive (Witness the abuse Michael Steele got). The idea that a conservative, mother-of-5, who likes "God, Guns, and the American Way" could get there first, and worse yet, actually do the job! Well, that's just not possible! She simply cannot be allowed to accede to the second highest office in the land.

The BOJoe campaign will have to be extremely careful about letting this get too far out of hand. The backlash will be swift and deadly if they do. Frankly, I think it's gonna be a hoot to watch them try to tap dance around this one.

We need to stock up on ice and mixers, man. It's gotta be a long night comin' in November.

According to DC rag "The Hill", Dem Lawmakers say the new Ethics rules are a "pain in the ass".

This is just precious, fellow DDs. I almost cannot contain that giddy feeling I get when the Libs so blatantly expose their hypocrisy. Check this quote :

Members of Congress attending the Democratic National Convention are expressing frustration with the thicket of restrictions that they say have caused confusion and pointless irritation.

“It’s a pain in the ass!” said Rep. Jim Moran (Va.), one of 221 Democrats who voted for the final version of the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007.

These guys were all over the legislation when they could use it to embarrass the GOPers and make it look like they were the paragons of virtue, but the tune changed at their big dance. Now,

Democratic lawmakers have only themselves to blame. Just six House Democrats voted against the final version of the 2007 reform law: Reps. Neil Abercrombie (Hawaii), Allen Boyd (Fla.), Lacy Clay (Mo.), Emanuel Cleaver (Mo.), John Tanner (Tenn.) and John Murtha (Pa.), who called the reform “total crap” at the time.

Remember when the local cage-liner was hammering Dan Burton because he was the only one who voted against similar stupid ethics reform? At the time, the Congressman said:

The best way to do ethics reform is not to make a myriad of complicated rules that no one understands. The thing to do is to report everything. Put it up on the internet immediately, within 24 hours or so, and let the people know who's doing what.

Which is exactly what some Dems are saying now! The complicated and nearly uninterpretable rules have everybody in a scramble.

Kenneth Gross, an ethics expert at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, said many people are confused. Many event hosts think they can’t provide utensils at receptions attended by lawmakers.

“People think they have to eat with their fingers,” he said. “People are running around and collecting forks like an illegal substance.”

“You need a large staff just to interpret the rules,” said Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.). “We wrote it so complicated.”

Ruppersberger said it would make more sense for Congress to get rid of the bramble of complicated ethics rules and instead require lawmakers and staff to disclose immediately any perks and gifts they receive. He said the threat of public scrutiny would give Democrats and Republicans enough incentive to act ethically. (emphasis added.)

What? I rest my case.

How can anyone with Code Pink say they are patriotic supporters of our military? If you look at the comments on the video below (courtesy of our friends at the NRSC), you'll see the flawed and failed logic of liberals (and some freaky Ron Paul supporters, sorry). The most pathetic comment was one that proudly and defiantly stated that "the protesters are against the recruiters, not the marines!" The recruiters ARE marines!
